This statue, whose other elements, the torso and the horse, are preserved in the Acropolis Museum in Athens, is dated to 560-520 BC; it therefore belongs to the so-called "archaic" period (6th to 6th century BC), marked by the techniques and conventions received from the East and transmitted by the Greek cities of Asia Minor and the islands.
